Challenge

Awqaf & Minors Affairs Foundation (AMAF) is a Dubai government department responsible for the legal supervision over the Awqaf (endowments) and Emarati minor’s assets, its care and investment, as well as the wellbeing of minors. Properties that are received by AMAF from minors and through endowment are rented through predefined business processes. Similarly lands are used to construct residential or commercial buildings in case of any lucrative investment opportunity in real estate. Cash assets received from minors and endowment are invested in stocks, bonds, and mutual funds and in other investment opportunities using a defined processes involving all stakeholders and after carrying out a detailed analysis of financial investment opportunity. However, all these business activities were being carried out manually, resulting in little visibility and control over the business processes. Also, the agility of their processes was becoming a big challenge.

SOLUTIONS

To address the business challenges of AMAF, Microvision proposed a web based solution that is built around the Oracle SOA Suite. Considering the agility of business processes and need of frequent change in business processes to gain the competitive advantage, it was proposed to utilize Oracle Business Process Manager and Oracle Rules Author to design the business process in such a way that can be modified and redesigned by the business users them self with minimum (or no) intervention from the development team. Keeping in mind the importance of the confidentiality for an Investment management system, Oracle Web Service manager was proposed to be used with the Business Process Manager for quick and secure communication between the BPM engine and Web Services.

 Initiate business processes & request/application

 Fetch & display the list of pending tasks from the Business Process Manager (BPM)

  • Microvision’s custom API communicates with Oracle BPM, to fetch and display the human tasks from already developed --work list module.
  • API filters the tasks based on security and privileges.
  • Property and Investment Management System (PIMS) was developed to run within the intranet environment of AMAF. The key features of the system are:

 

 Provide user interface to complete initiated pending tasks

  • Allows user to complete the tasks listed in their task list.
  • Microvision’s custom Task List API changes task statuses.

 

 Integration with financial system

  • Retrieves payment statuses and Integrated with e-Pay and mDubai
  • Posts payment details to Finance System (i.e. GRP), using a secure channel Generate MIS reports.
  • Internal application generates different MIS reports to give an overall business picture to the management.
  • Helps in taking timely business decisions.
